The importance of fashion shopping

The importance of fashion. I’m not sure if many of us ask the question of the importance of fashion or if many of us have an answer to respond with. Do you dress to feel better about yourself, or is it about your status? What does it mean to you to wear designer clothes. Designer clothing is expansive, and can be time consuming, staying on top of all the trends of the day. In the United States, its very typical to hear an American say, “time is money” and that’s why if you ever visit New York, everyone is very motivated to get to their next destination.
Fast Fashion, brands as Zara, H&M, or Forever 21 seem to represent pieces that are very similar to some of your favorite designers. And these stores provide the latest trends almost 6 months sooner than many of your favorite designer. Zara, for example, is a company which is almost impossible to hear about in the United States even if you only took a single business course. Zara, has the best chain line management in the world. Within two weeks they can meet with designers and have the product on the shelve. Most companies take at least 6 months. So why pay more?
Recently, I was discussing fashion with my flatmate in Beijing, we were with a group of students from all over the world, who were shopping like madmen. They were going to places like the Silk Market or the Pear Market and bartering like their life depended on it. Kanya, just dropped Yeezy season three before fashion week in New York and has been trending in street fashion all over the globe. Many of our class-mates where buying boxes of fake Yeezys and thinking they were kings. I asked, Jack, my flatmate, why he was not participating in the festivities, and what he said was truly profound. “Thomas, if I were to buy fake Yeezy’s it would discredit my wardrobe”. Everything that he had invested into over his short 20 something lifetime would lack value because he sacrificed quality for the perception of something that wasn’t real. It’s not that he was afraid someone would find out that he had purchased an artificial item as much as the fact, for him, personally he was a man a principle. And his closest was consist to the man he was. This was the role of fashion for jack, a reflection of his values. He didn’t want to wear his Rolex watch with a pair of fake Yeezy’s because that didn’t reflect who he was. For me, I can feel quality, and I think you see it, even in the way someone carries oneself. I try to curate a wardrobe which reflects my values in life, represented by a
thoughtful sense of beauty. For me, fashion doesn’t stop there, I don’t support fast fashion brands for more than just quality. It’s ethical problem for me. As in, when you are paying such low prices, someone is not getting their share, and the practices are guaranteed to be sub-par. The fashion industry is the second worst cause of killing our plant, and I believe in investing into people who want to change that. And that is the importance of fashion for me.

Comfort zone. Stay away and go!

I went out of my comfort zone, as regards the work, some time ago, exactly in 2014, and in Australia. I was born in Treviso, a small town just thirty kilometers from Venice, in Italy. This was not my first experience traveling abroad, but the first about job and in a very relaxed working environment and where I was welcomed like a family.

I lived in an even smaller town nestled in the Italian countryside, Preganziol, halfway between Treviso and Venice.

I have lived ever since I was little  in an environment that concerned the arts and the shows: my father always took me to see the “behind the scenes” of his work as a painter, designer and architectural teacher as well as  my mother. They are also teachers of architecture and arts. This influence has grown and excite me to be more involved in to art area and, hoping to be able to work in this area, in the area rich in cultural countries like Italy, so I decided to put effort on that after high school.

I studied at the University Ca ‘Foscari of Venice (what better city to be immersed in’ the Italian “Heritage”) Economics and Management of Arts for three years and another two years Master of Tourist Systems Planning. After this long period of studying, I had several collaborations and realized the culture-related projects.

But what led me to work in Brisbane, Australia, and in particular for the Co. As it. – Italian Language Centre (company that deals with community  services and support the teaching of Italian language)? Here’s the answer: the desire to undertake an experience closer to my passions and a bet with myself. Let me explain: I applied for this institution, to test myself and my skills in one of the most geographically distant countries from Italy (flight hours, believe me, seem endless), and to expand my world view . In fact, I always felt that whatever path we did, this will always lead to an improvement in ourselves in the future.

Then, stay away from your comfort zone and fly away!

P.S. You will always have time to go back to your first home.

Start-up or start a new business. The importance of human relationships.

Some time ago I saw the birth and I actively participated in a project, born as an association, which had the express purpose of enhancing and promoting the art; the intentions and future plans were very ambitious, and the passion in was unbelievably great, but something did not go as it should. So I take inspiration from this experience to give some advices, from a personal and human perspective.

  1. Do not underestimate or obscure the work of your collaborators, especially if they are technical experts.
  1. Never be the “master” of anything. This kind of attitude will create a “feudal” atmosphere in the company. Do not worry, if you’re the founder and it all started thanks to your efforts. They are all grateful for that, even if they do not tell you explicitly or they contemplate you every day for this.
  1. Work for the merit and qualification of whole company and not for your personal purposes. Try to maintain a high level of quality in terms of what you are doing, demonstrating your credibility and reliability in the future; you can obtain this only if there is a scientific work behind, seriously, correctly and modestly performed without arrogance but with creative spirit.
  1. Do not criticize without construct those who have tried and are trying with great effort and physical effort, intellectual and even economic, to qualify and improve the image of the company.
  1. Have yourself around trained and competent persons, who take full responsibility for a job. Each project will be implemented with the participation of all and will make recommendations, suggestions, corrections, observations since the error and oversight are always home, but in the end, no one should prevail.
  1. Oppositions and unjustified impositions can never be accepted especially if that are received by people with no any qualification because they are just try to impose their personal taste, they often could come from ignorance and narrowness of studying. It is to the detriment of your professional and human dignity.

Today I am in Beijing, where I find myself again, with even greater passion than before, involved in the birth and development of a new company. I’ve never lose heart, whatever the difficulties are.

A new revolution. Starting from mums

This is a magic journey when you see a mum turned out to be a stunning and charming woman shining on the stage, like an inspired world woven by their beauty and confidence giving us boundless aftertaste.

Frankly, I didn’t expect too much at very beginning, plus things got worse when thousands of mums messed up the line, waiting for getting into the building. They were like the kind of women who  just finished shopping in the supermarket and still complained how come the price of eggs went up 1 cent. Maybe it was my stereotype, but after all, I have to confess that I was wrong.

Most of the women were born in the 50’s during the cultural revolution of China. Every woman was traditional and conservative, the culture didn’t allow them to show their beauty and body, there was no colors in their world back to time, they were happy and proud of being covered by dark green, blue, red. They would be shamed to be sexy and cared too much about their beauty. No body had one second thought of being on public showing their beauty like a model on TV. The most common sentences I’ve heard were: I am too old for that”, “This is too much for my age,” “I am too fat” etc. Apparently, they were so much influenced by the old China and the rule of being a Chinese woman.  But mums, it is the time you should go out of the kitchen and forget about being a mum, you are a beautiful woman. Thats how we encouraged them during the whole period. They were chasing it . They tried hard to learn how to stand straightly, how to walk on the runway and how to dress up to show off their bodies with style, colors.  The competition and training had been last two weeks. The time was short but meaningful. The show indeed gave them an amazing opportunity to be  a woman with their own beauty of their ages and confidence facing the new world.

At end of the day, when then walked like real models  on the runway, smiling at the whole world. They knew that they made it. I saw they were happy with tears and release. The stage, the flash light，the applause all belonged to them, it’s not only about a showtime, it is something in their life.
